Introduction
Welcome to Weather & Forecast: Breeze (Breeze). We are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices regarding the collection, use, and protection of your information when you use our mobile application, Breeze, available on the App Store and Google Play.
By using Breeze, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please do not use our application. We take your privacy seriously and strive to ensure that your personal information is protected.
Information We Collect
Breeze itself collects none of your data, and it has no account or sign-up. We run no server that receives your information, and the app contains no analytics or crash-reporting service. Your saved cities, settings, cached forecasts and notification choices are stored only on your device. To show a forecast, the app does contact a few outside services directly from your device: Open-Meteo for weather, air quality and city search, BigDataCloud to name your location, Google AdMob for ads, and, on Android, Google Play for the optional Breeze Pro purchase. Each is described below.
Location
Breeze asks for location permission only when you tap Use current location in the city search, and only while the app is open. It requests an approximate position, never uses your location in the background, and uses it only to find your local forecast. If you decline, everything else works: you can search for cities by name. The place you get is saved on your device like any other city.
Weather and Place-Name Services
Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) provides the forecast, the air-quality reading and the city search. To do that, Breeze sends it the latitude and longitude of each city you have saved whenever a forecast loads or refreshes, the text you type into the city search together with the app language, and, as with any internet request, your IP address. If you added a place with Use current location, that city's coordinates are your device's position at that moment.
When you tap Use current location, Breeze also sends the coordinates your device reports, plus the app language, to BigDataCloud (bigdatacloud.com), which turns them into a place name such as a city and country. BigDataCloud also sees your IP address.
These requests use HTTPS and go straight from your device to the provider; they do not pass through us. Breeze does not send either provider your name, an account, or your advertising identifier. Each provider handles the requests under its own terms and privacy policy: https://open-meteo.com/en/terms and https://www.bigdatacloud.com/privacy-and-cookie-policy.
How We Use Your Information
Since we do not collect any user data, there is no information for us to use or process. What you save in Breeze, and the places whose weather you check, stay on your device and are used only to show your forecast, schedule your notifications and apply your settings.
Advertising
Breeze is free and supported by ads served through Google AdMob: banners and larger inline ads, full-screen ads (including when you reopen the app), and optional rewarded ads that play only when you tap to watch one, for example to turn ads off for an hour. To show and measure ads, AdMob and its partners may access your device's advertising identifier and other device identifiers, your IP address and the approximate location derived from it, how you interact with ads, and diagnostic and device information (such as device model and operating system). Breeze does not put your saved cities or device coordinates into ad requests.
Where the law requires it, Breeze asks for your consent through Google's consent form before any ad is requested: in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you are asked first, and in some US states the form lets you opt out. Settings › Privacy options (shown where a consent choice applies) lets you review or change your choice at any time. On Android, ads may be personalised according to the choice you make. On iPhone and iPad, Breeze requests non-personalised ads, does not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt, and does not track you across other companies' apps and websites.
Learn more in Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can also reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings.
Purchases
On Android, Breeze offers an optional one-time Breeze Pro purchase through Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment; Breeze never sees your payment details and stores only whether Pro is unlocked on your device, so it can be restored through your Google Play account. Breeze has no purchases on iPhone and iPad.
Notifications
Breeze can send a morning forecast at a time you choose. It is off until you turn it on. It is a local notification: the app schedules it on your device, using forecasts it has already downloaded, and no push-notification service of ours is involved. Your device asks for notification permission when you turn it on, and you can switch it off in Settings › Notifications or in your device settings.
Security of Your Information
Your saved cities, settings and cached forecasts are stored locally in your operating system's app storage, protected by your device's own security; Breeze does not add its own encryption on top. Requests to Open-Meteo and BigDataCloud are sent over HTTPS.
Retention of Your Information
Since we do not collect any user data, we do not retain any personal information on external servers. Everything Breeze stores is on your device. You can remove saved cities in the app at any time, and uninstalling the application deletes everything else it stored, as does clearing the app's storage in your device settings. Open-Meteo, BigDataCloud and Google keep whatever they keep under their own policies, which we do not control.
Children's Privacy
Our application is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13 ("Children"). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at hello@microappdigital.com so that we can take steps to remove such information.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
