Privacy Policy - Ember

Ember is built so there is nothing to collect. The app has no text input of any kind — answers to its questions are spoken aloud by the people in the room and are never entered into the app, so they cannot be stored or transmitted. There are no accounts, no sign-in, and no servers operated by us. The only data the app keeps is stored locally on your device: which question cards you have already seen (so decks do not repeat), questions you deliberately choose to keep in your favorites list, and your settings. Player names used in party rounds are optional, chosen from a preset list, held only in memory, and discarded the moment a round closes.

Ember shows advertisements provided by Google AdMob on its shelf screens to keep the app's decks included at no charge. AdMob may collect certain non-personal data such as an advertising identifier, device type, and coarse diagnostics to serve and measure ads. This data is handled by Google under Google's own privacy policy. We do not have access to or control over the data collected by AdMob. Ads never appear during live card play or party rounds.

If you enable the optional Tonight's Question reminder, the app schedules a single local notification on your device at the time you choose. This is processed entirely on your device and can be turned off at any time in the app's settings.

We do not collect personal information, so there is nothing for us to use or process. Everything the app remembers — seen cards, kept favorites, settings — remains on your device and is never transmitted to us.

We do not share any personal data with third parties because we do not collect any. The only third-party service integrated into the app is Google AdMob for advertising, which operates under its own privacy policy. The favorites export feature creates a plain text list that you choose where to share using your device's share sheet — we never see it.

All app data is stored locally on your device. We do not transmit your data over the internet, which means your kept questions and settings are always under your control. Deleting the app removes all of its local data; the favorites list can also be deleted inside the app in one tap.

Ember is not directed at children under 13 ("Children"), although family decks are written to an all-ages standard for shared play with an adult present. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone, including children. A "Grown-ups only cards" setting, off by default, gates a small amount of romance-themed content intended for adults.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal and regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. Changes are effective when posted.
