Micro App Digital ("we," "our," or "us") developed the Petal application ("App") as a free, ad-supported application with an optional one-time upgrade to remove ads. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our App. We are committed to protecting your privacy and to keeping your cycle and health data entirely under your control.
Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters. This page explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Petal is designed as a fully offline, on-device application. We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal or health information to our servers — we do not operate any servers for your data. Everything you create within the App — including periods, cycles, flow, symptoms, mood, sleep, sexual activity, basal body temperature, notes, predictions, and settings — is stored exclusively on your device in an encrypted local database. There is no account and no sign-up, and we do not use cookies or any remote analytics that transmit your health data.
Because we do not collect any of your personal or health information, there is no such data for us to use or process. All cycle data, daily logs, predictions, insights, and preferences remain entirely on your device and under your control. Predictions are calculated on your device from the data you enter. You can export your data at any time as a PDF health report or an encrypted backup file through the App's settings.
We do not share any of your personal or health information with third parties, because we do not collect it. Your cycle and health data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export and share it yourself.
Petal is supported by ads served through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect a non-personal advertising identifier from your device to deliver ads, apply frequency capping, and perform aggregate measurement. By default the App requests non-personalized ads, and we never pass any of your cycle, health, or personal data to ad requests. This advertising identifier is handled by Google in accordance with the Google AdMob Privacy Policy; the App itself does not receive, store, or share it. You can reset or limit ad tracking from your device's system settings at any time, and you can remove ads entirely with the optional in-app upgrade.
Petal offers an optional one-time in-app purchase to remove ads. Any such transaction is processed entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play and is subject to their respective privacy policies. We do not receive or store any payment information. Your purchase status is stored locally on your device.
Petal processes sensitive health-related information, including menstrual cycle data, period flow, symptoms, mood, sexual activity, basal body temperature, and related notes. All of this data is processed and stored exclusively on your device. We never access, collect, or transmit it, and we never sell it. You have full control over your health data and can delete all of it at any time through the App's settings. Petal is a self-tracking and educational tool; its predictions and fertile-window estimates are not a reliable form of contraception and are not medical advice.
Your data is stored locally on your device in an encrypted database, protected by your device's built-in security. Petal also offers an optional PIN lock and biometric authentication (fingerprint or Face ID), plus a discreet mode, for an extra layer of privacy. Backup files you export are encrypted. Because your health data is not transmitted over the internet, there is no risk of it being intercepted in transit.
All data is retained on your device for as long as the App is installed. When you uninstall the App, all locally stored data is deleted. You can also clear all data manually at any time through the App's settings, or export it beforehand.
Our App is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13 ("Children"). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so that we can take appropriate steps.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes are effective when posted on this page.
